Ukraine says cancels antidumping duties on Russia’s ammonia

ZURICH, Sep 28 (PRIME) -- Ukraine has cancelled its antidumping import duties on ammonium nitrate from Russia, a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) told reporters on Monday following a meeting of the WHO Dispute Settlement Body.

“Ukraine announced that it had lifted the antidumping measures imposed on imports of ammonium nitrate from Russia, which means it complies with obligations in its dispute with Russia over the issue,” the representative said.

Ukraine raised the duties to 36.03% from 11.91% in July 2014 for five years on request from local fertilizer producer Ostchem. The company said that prices for natural gas for Ukrainian chemical plants and for Russian producers differ greatly. Russia filed its suit to the WTO in May 2015 saying that Kiev’s duties violate the WTO anti-dumping agreement.

The WTO sided with Russia in September 2019.
